Frequently asked questions
How is Zakat calculated?
Zakat is 2.5% of your total qualifying wealth (cash, gold, silver, business assets and receivables minus short-term liabilities) once it reaches the nisab threshold and a full lunar year has passed.
What is the nisab?
The nisab is the minimum wealth on which Zakat becomes due: the value of 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver. Most scholars recommend the silver nisab as it benefits more recipients. Enter today’s gold or silver price to calculate it.
Is the calculation stored?
No. Everything is worked out in your browser; none of your figures are sent to us or saved.
