Kaak (Balochi Stone Bread) — کاک
Kaak is a hard, dome-shaped Balochi bread baked over a heated stone. Its crisp crust is made to be cracked by hand and eaten with sajji or stews.
Ingredients
- 4 cups wheat flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp yeast
- Warm water, as needed
Method
- Mix flour, salt and yeast, then add warm water gradually to form a firm dough. Knead well.
- Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
- Shape the dough over a preheated smooth stone (or heavy dome mould).
- Bake beside a fire, turning, until the crust is hard and golden. Cool before cracking open.
