RAWALPINDI/QUETTA : Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, met with prominent political figures and civil society leaders from Balochistan on Friday, reaffirming that the province's present and future are indivisible from Pakistan's, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement.
The meeting, held at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, was attended by parliamentary leaders, former federal and provincial ministers, tribal elders, and civil society representatives.
COAS's Remarks
Addressing the delegation, COAS Munir emphasized: "Balochistan's present and future are one with Pakistan's, and will always remain so." He described Balochistan as a land of "capable, resilient, patriotic, and dignified people."
The army chief stressed that a clear national narrative and durable peace are fundamental to unlocking the province's economic potential, attracting investment, and translating its vast human and natural resources into tangible prosperity for the people. He stated that Balochistan's youth are the most dynamic and hopeful segment of society, and empowering them with opportunities is essential for sustainable development.
Warning on Foreign Proxies
Field Marshal Munir identified "Fitna-ul-Khawarij" (outlawed militant groups) and "Fitna-ul-Hindustan" (enemy elements) as foreign-backed proxies being used to destabilize Balochistan, obstruct development, and create a wedge between the state and its people. He reiterated the nation's collective resolve to defeat these "nefarious designs" through a "resolute and decisive" response.
Appreciation and Commitment
The COAS appreciated the role of Balochistan's leaders in promoting peace, social harmony, and constructive national dialogue. He called for a comprehensive and fearless counter to hostile propaganda, exposing false narratives while highlighting Balochistan's true potential, development, and aspirations. He made it clear: "Balochistan's destiny lies solely in the hands of its people."
Delegates' Response
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to peace, development, and prosperity in Balochistan and Pakistan. They vowed to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the state and armed forces against all foreign-backed threats to stability. The delegates also expressed their resolve to play their role in people-centric development, leading to a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Balochistan—"where truth prevails and the narrative of enemy forces is ultimately buried in its own propaganda and fabrication."
