Four men accused of abducting a Quetta woman and subjecting her to violence have been arrested, police said tuesday, same evening woman went public with allegations that her cousins tortured her and tried to force her into marriage.

The complainant, Asma, daughter of Amanullah and a resident of Qambrani Road, told reporters at a press conference on August 18 that her cousin Khuda Bakhsh whom she said she was once engaged to, though the engagement ended in 2022 led an attack on her home the previous night along with Siraj, Muhammad Rafiq, Javed, and others. She alleged the men tortured her after she refused to remarry Khuda Bakhsh, and that a cleric present refused to perform a forced marriage ceremony when asked.

Asma said the men then tried to abduct her by force.FC intercepted the vehicle at a checkpoint, she said, though it remains unclear whether this was the same operation that led to Tuesday's arrests or an earlier, separate encounter a detail investigators will need to clarify.

She also alleged the accused took her educational documents and cash, though the reported amount varies sharply between accounts Rs 65 thousand rupees according to her press conference, and Rs 65,000 according to the subsequent police statement. Asma said she went into hiding afterward, fearing for her safety, and appealed directly to Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti for protection and justice.

An FIR (No. 161/2026) was registered on August 16 under Section 365-B of the Pakistan Penal Code at Kachi Baig police station, based on a complaint filed by the victim's mother, Shazia. Sub-Inspector Mehboob Ali was assigned to investigate.

SSP Operations announced Tuesday that all four nominated suspects had been arrested and the victim recovered safely. Police said weapons and the vehicle used in the alleged abduction were also recovered. The victim's statement was recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code on August 18, and she underwent a medical examination at Civil Hospital Quetta; that report is still pending. The suspects remain in police remand as the investigation continues.
