A grand Independence Day ceremony was held at the Polo Ground in Quetta on Saturday, drawing thousands of citizens, students, civil society representatives, provincial ministers, and top military leadership, including the Corps Commander.

The event, organized to mark Pakistan's 79th Independence Day, featured national songs and cultural performances that energized the large crowd. Students from various schools and colleges participated in large numbers, waving flags and chanting patriotic slogans.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti paid rich tribute to the sacrifices of civil servants, FC personnel, and security forces, stating that the freedom enjoyed today came at a great cost.

"I want to assure the families of our martyrs that your grief is our grief," Bugti said. "The state of Pakistan has always made it clear that those who choose the path of violence have gained nothing but destruction."

He reiterated the government's firm stance against terrorism, warning that if innocent citizens are targeted, the state will not retreat.

"We will establish peace in Balochistan at all costs," he declared. "Action against terrorism will continue relentlessly."

In a significant gesture, the Chief Minister extended a renewed offer of reconciliation to those engaged in militancy.

"I once again urge those who have taken up arms to lay down their weapons. The doors of the state are open for them," he said, emphasizing that dialogue and reintegration remain the preferred path.

However, he made it clear that this offer does not apply to those who target civilians, stressing that such elements would face the full force of the state.

Bugti highlighted the government's efforts to uplift the province's youth, revealing that top global universities including Harvard and Oxford have been made accessible to Baloch students.

"Balochistan's children were kept away from progress and education," he lamented. "Now we are opening doors to the world's best institutions so that our youth can shape their future through learning."

He reaffirmed that meritocracy remains the cornerstone of his administration's strategy to integrate young Baloch into the national mainstream.

The Chief Minister strongly condemned those spreading terrorism under the guise of Islam, asserting that such elements have no connection to the faith.

"Those spreading terrorism in the name of Islam have nothing to do with Islam," he stated. "Baloch youth are being pushed into a futile war that benefits no one."

He called on the youth to reject violent ideologies and embrace constructive paths toward development and prosperity.

Bugti concluded by praising the Baloch people as heirs to a brave and historic tradition, expressing confidence that the province would overcome its challenges through unity, education, and peaceful coexistence.

"Balochistan will be made peaceful and prosperous," he vowed, receiving loud applause from the audience.

The ceremony ended with prayers for the nation's continued security and progress, as attendees dispersed with renewed patriotic fervor.
