Armed men ambushed a convoy of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) near Kharan city in Balochistan on Sunday, opening fire with heavy automatic weapons as the vehicles passed, in an attack that reportedly left casualties
The assailants had taken position along the route and opened fire as the convoy moved near the city, according to initial reports. Several CTD vehicles and personnel came under attack. Early accounts said the assault caused casualties, though an independent toll was not available at the time of writing.
The CTD and other security forces have been targeted in repeated attacks in and around Kharan, where militant groups are active.
No group had claimed responsibility for the latest attack.
