Two labourers were killed and four others fell unconscious after toxic gas accumulated inside a closed coal mine in the Naseerabad area of Duki district, police said.

According to authorities, the labourers had entered the abandoned mine when they were overcome by poisonous gases. The affected workers were shifted to DHQ Hospital Duki for emergency treatment.

The deceased were identified as Mohabbatullah, son of Syed Amin, belonging to the Kharoti tribe and a resident of Kharozi, and Rozi Muhammad, son of Muhammad Ahub Oshkhel, a resident of Naseerabad.

Police said both bodies were handed over to their heirs after completion of legal procedures. The condition of the four workers who fell unconscious was reportedly being monitored by medical staff. No official statement on compensation or safety inspections had been issued by authorities at the time of reporting.
