Two Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were killed and several others wounded when a convoy came under attack in Balochistan's Dera Bugti district on Friday, according to local sources and a statement issued by the provincial chief minister.

The convoy of an FC wing commander was moving within the district, along the road linking Sui and Dera Bugti, when it was targeted, local sources said. No casualties were reported on the attackers' side, and there was no immediate word on the wing commander's own condition.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack. Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the assault, expressing sorrow over the martyrdom of two FC Balochistan personnel and saying the soldiers had given their lives for the peace and protection of the province. He extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.

The chief minister said cowardly acts of terrorism could not shake the state's resolve, adding that action against those behind such attacks, and their facilitators, would continue in line with the law.

Local sources put the number of wounded at at least 10. An official casualty count had not been issued at the time of filing.

Dera Bugti, in the province's east near the Sui gas fields, has seen repeated attacks on security forces over the years amid a long-running insurgency in Balochistan. FC convoys and gas installations in the district have been targeted before.

The Balochistan Dispatch could not independently verify the casualty figures, which are based on local accounts. This report will be updated as more details become available.
