According to preliminary seismic data, the earthquake measured 5.7 on the Richter scale and struck at approximately 6:35 p.m. The epicenter was located about 81 kilometers from Kalafgan, Afghanistan, according to initial reports.
The tremors were widely felt in Pishin, Chitral, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Nowshera, Charsadda, Chiniot, Bhera and several surrounding areas. Residents in the affected cities evacuated homes, offices, markets, and commercial buildings as a precaution amid widespread fear.
The earthquake was also reported in neighboring countries, including Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and India, highlighting the wide geographical impact of the seismic event.
Initial reports indicate that there have been no confirmed casualties or major property damage. Rescue authorities and disaster management agencies remain on alert while officials continue assessing the situation.
Geologists note that Pakistan lies along active tectonic fault lines, making the country vulnerable to frequent earthquakes ranging from minor to moderate intensity. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious, avoid damaged structures, and follow official safety guidelines in case of aftershocks.
