Tremors were felt across Quetta and its adjoining areas late Saturday night after an earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale struck the region, sending residents rushing out of their homes in a moment of panic.
According to the seismological monitoring center, the quake was recorded at 11:27 pm. Its epicenter was located 37 kilometers northeast of Quetta, at a depth of 15 kilometers.
Residents in Quetta and the surrounding districts reported feeling the tremors distinctly, with many leaving their houses as a precaution. The sudden shaking caused brief panic among citizens, though calm returned within minutes as no aftershocks were immediately reported.
District administration officials said that, based on initial assessments, no casualties or damage to property had been reported as a result of the earthquake. Rescue teams have been placed on high alert as authorities continue to monitor the situation and assess the region for any delayed reports of damage.
Quetta and the wider Balochistan region sit in a seismically active zone, and tremors of this magnitude are not uncommon in the area. Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious and to follow standard safety protocols in the event of aftershocks.
This report will be updated as more information becomes available.
