Claims have emerged that more than 35 male and female students were expelled from the Quetta campus of the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) after allegedly refusing to stand for, or sing, the national anthem.



The claims were raised by Imran Baloch, a lawyer and human rights activist based in Quetta, in a social media post, in which he said more than 35 students at NUST's Quetta campus did not stand during a national anthem ceremony and were subsequently expelled by the university. He said the affected students include both Baloch and non-Baloch individuals.

According to Imran Baloch, the university administration has told parents that, as a condition for the students' readmission, they must submit special affidavits before their children can return.

The National University of Sciences and Technology has not issued any official statement or response regarding these claims as of this writing. The Balochistan Dispatch has not independently verified the claims and is seeking comment from NUST's Quetta campus administration.
