Residents of Ghareebabad and surrounding areas have appealed to the Balochistan chief minister over the lack of a proper bridge connecting communities on both sides of the Pat Feeder canal, saying thousands of residents on either side are affected by the absence of a passable route, particularly due to water accumulation. Areas including Shandeel, Shazain, and Khattan Gulzari, situated further upstream, are also affected, according to local resident Nawaz Bugti, who issued the appeal.
Separately, a video circulating from the village of Syed Khan Shalwani Perozani, in the Pinhan uch gas field area of Sui tehsil, Dera Bugti district, shows water from the Kachhi Canal flowing into a residential area instead of the Pat Feeder, after a crossing built on the canal was left without adequate drainage. Local residents say the resulting flow is causing them serious difficulties.
Residents are demanding that a proper and complete water passage be built without delay from the Kachhi Canal to the Pat Feeder, so that water follows its intended course and the population is protected from flooding and potential damage. They have appealed to the relevant authorities to take urgent notice of the issue and provide a permanent solution.
No response from provincial authorities had been reported at the time of this report.
