The performance of the Agriculture Department in Panjgur is nearly non-existent, causing difficulties for the district's farmers. Irregularities have been revealed in the Water Management Department, where funds worth crores of rupees have reportedly been given to specific landowners on the basis of personal influence, while deserving landowners have been deprived of facilities.
Public circles and landowners said the Water Management Department spends crores of rupees every year in the name of the Green Balochistan Project or other projects, but no improvement in production is visible from the water reservoirs built in Panjgur. Rightful landowners have appealed to the government and concerned authorities for the Panjgur Agriculture Department to launch an investigation into the irregularities.
It was noted that this pattern has continued for several years. Poor landowners are being deprived of their rights, and due to the Agriculture Department's negligence, date palm trees are heading toward ruin. To this day, however, the Panjgur Agriculture Department's Water Management wing has made no plan for their restoration.
If the department's facilities remain limited to only a few specific landowners, agricultural production in Panjgur will not improve, residents said.
