Sessions Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar and his gunman were killed when unidentified attackers opened fire on his vehicle in the Wali Khan area of Mastung on thursday around 1 O clock.

According to District Police Officer Allah Bakhsh Baloch, the judge and his gunman died on the spot. Additional Sessions Judge Tariq Lashari and one other person were seriously injured in the attack and were shifted to hospital immediately.

Police said the judge and additional sessions judge were travelling from Quetta to attend Mastung's Sessions Court when the attack occurred on the national highway. The area was cordoned off in the aftermath, and police said an investigation has been launched while a search for the attackers is under way.

Chief Minister condemns attack

The Chief Minister of Balochistan condemned the killing, calling the attack on Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar an attack on the state itself. He said those responsible would be brought to justice, adding that the sacrifice of law enforcement and judicial officials would not go unanswered and that networks behind such attacks would be dismantled.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Balochistan Bar Council announces strike and mourning

The Balochistan Bar Council issued a press release strongly condemning the attack, calling it not only an assault on the judiciary but on the rule of law, the justice system, and the Constitution itself. The Council extended condolences to the families of the martyrs and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured Additional Sessions Judge.

In protest, the Bar Council announced a two-day strike and a three-day mourning period, calling the targeting of judges performing their lawful duties an unforgivable act of terrorism. The Council said the legal community stands in complete solidarity with the judicial fraternity in the wake of the attack.
