A family in Quetta, the provincial capital, experienced a rapid swing from celebration to mourning after a mother gave birth to quintuplets five babies in a single delivery only for two of the newborns to lose their lives within days, according to local reports.

The babies were born prematurely, and doctors said their low birth weight was a significant factor in the complications that followed. Medical staff reportedly made efforts to stabilize all five infants, but two could not survive despite ongoing treatment.

According to sources, the family had kept the pregnancy and delivery details private given the sensitivity and unpredictability surrounding a multiple birth of this kind. The three surviving infants remain under hospital care, with doctors continuing round-the-clock monitoring. Hospital sources said the children are responding to treatment and are expected to see continued improvement.

Relatives and members of the local community have expressed condolences to the family over the loss of the two infants, while also offering support during the ongoing care of the surviving newborns. Residents and parents in the area have voiced hope and prayers for the full recovery of the three babies still under medical observation.
