The Baloch Women's Forum has alleged that security forces personnel raided a home in Kalli Kongarh, in Balochistan's Mastung district, on July 21, 2026, and forcibly took away a woman identified as Bibi Rafia, daughter of Imam Bakhsh, along with her three young children, her brother Muhammad Arif, and her niece Bibi Nida, 18. In a statement issued by its spokesperson, the forum said the family has since received no information about their whereabouts.

The forum described the incident as part of what it called a broader and continuing pattern of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, rather than an isolated case. It said local human rights activists, affected families, and rights organizations have raised the issue repeatedly for years, with many families still awaiting the return of relatives, and some having died while still waiting.

According to the forum's spokesperson, enforced disappearances involving women in Balochistan have been documented periodically since the early 2000s, though the majority of past cases involved political activists. The statement cited two earlier cases it said involved women specifically: Zarina Marri, a schoolteacher from Kohlu allegedly disappeared along with her young son, both still unaccounted for, and Bank Hanifa Bugti from Quetta. The forum said that in recent years, cases involving Baloch women and children allegedly held by security-linked personnel have become more frequent, deepening concern across the province.

The spokesperson argued that international law affords special protections to women and children, and said the disappearance of a mother in particular affects an entire family — leaving children exposed to psychological, economic, and social hardship — a concern the forum said becomes more serious still when children themselves are among those taken.

The Baloch Women's Forum said that where individuals are accused of wrongdoing, the state's responsibility under law is to make arrests through due process, present detainees before a court promptly, notify their families, and ensure full legal rights are afforded to them. The spokesperson said enforced disappearance not only strips individuals of basic rights but also erodes public trust and confidence in the rule of law more broadly, and called on human rights institutions to press the issue at every available forum.
