Gwadar, August 12: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti stated on Wednesday that he has arrived in Gwadar to listen to all political parties and local stakeholders to resolve the issues faced by the people of the port city. He asserted that the government would take practical steps to address public problems and protect the legitimate rights of the local population.
Upon his arrival at the Gwadar district complex, the Chief Minister was received by administrative officials, while a smartly turned-out contingent of police presented a guard of honor.
Shortly after his arrival, the Chief Minister held a detailed meeting with office-bearers of the All-Parties Gwadar Committee and representatives of various political parties. The meeting focused on the overall situation in Gwadar, public issues, basic amenities, employment, and other regional matters.
During the meeting, political representatives raised several pressing issues, demanding the provision of basic civic facilities, employment opportunities for local youth, and the conduct of tests and interviews for Grade-IV positions at the local level.
Taking serious note of the demands, Chief Minister Bugti issued directives to hold tests for Grade-IV vacancies at the district level across all districts of the province, including Gwadar. He stressed that the district-wise quota for government jobs would be strictly enforced to ensure that local youth receive their due rights.
"My government will not allow anyone to usurp the rights of local candidates," CM Bugti said. "Merit, transparency, and strict adherence to the district quota will be ensured in all recruitment processes."
The Chief Minister also took notice of complaints regarding the appointment of non-local individuals on Grade-IV posts in the Fisheries Department and the Forest Department in Gwadar. He ordered the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT) to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the matter and submit a comprehensive, fact-based report. He further directed that if any violation of rules and regulations is proven at any level, legal action should be initiated against those responsible.
CM Bugti emphasized that Gwadar is a city of immense importance for Balochistan, and the fruits of its development should first reach the local population. "Development in Gwadar is not just about building mega projects; it is equally about providing basic civic amenities, jobs, education, health, water, and other essential facilities to the local people," he remarked.
He announced a review of the development record of the past 20 years to examine how many resources were spent on Gwadar’s development and what tangible difference these expenditures have made in people’s lives. "Many claims have been made in every era regarding Gwadar’s development. Now, we will assess the actual impact of these projects to ensure future planning aligns with ground realities and public needs," he added.
The Chief Minister stated that the government would continue its consultation process with political parties, elected representatives, district administrations, and local stakeholders to resolve public issues. He made it clear that public grievances and legitimate demands would not be ignored and would be addressed through practical steps.
"Gwadar is a vital hub for Balochistan's development, but sustainable progress is only possible when the local population feels they are part of the development process and have access to their basic rights and opportunities," he said. He directed relevant officials to ensure effective monitoring of development projects and transparent utilization of public funds.
The meeting was attended by Member of National Assembly Malik Shah Gorgij, Member of Provincial Assembly Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, Provincial Ministers Mir Zia Langau and Sardar Faisal Khan Jamali, tribal and political leader Mir Sajid Dashti, Principal Secretary Imran Zarkoon, Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Naqeebullah Kakakhel, and other concerned administrative officers.
