Balochistan offers free skills training to young jobseekers under CM programme

Published August 3, 2026

The Balochistan government is offering free professional training to young people under the Chief Minister's Employment Program, in a set of digital and business skills, with mentorship and job-placement support attached part of a wider effort to address the province's persistent youth unemployment.

According to the programme, the training covers six fields: cyber security, digital marketing, e-commerce, graphic design, SAP, and sales and marketing. Participants are also promised expert mentorship, support services and help finding a job after the course.

Some details that the official promotion does not mention are worth noting for anyone considering it. Information circulating with the campaign indicates the training together with accommodation, transport and placement support is provided in Karachi rather than within Balochistan, meaning selected participants would relocate, and that applications are routed through a designated training provider and its online portal. Prospective applicants would be well advised to confirm the arrangement, and their eligibility, through official government channels before signing up.

The scheme sits alongside a broader youth-employment agenda under Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti. A separate initiative, the Chief Minister's Youth Skills Development and Overseas Employment Program, run through the province's technical education authority, aims to train tens of thousands of young people for jobs abroad; officials have said the first phase covers 2,500 people, and that more than 200 had been sent to Gulf states after training by mid-2026. The digital-skills programme announced now is a distinct, domestic-facing offering.

The announcement leaves several questions unanswered among them the number of places available, the eligibility and selection criteria, the length of the courses, the budget, and how job placements and outcomes will be tracked and reported. Those figures matter, because they are the difference between a training scheme and a measurable route into work.

The need it addresses is real. Balochistan, Pakistan's largest but least developed province, has long struggled to provide enough local employment for a growing young population, and skills-and-placement programmes have become a recurring feature of provincial policy. Whether this one produces verifiable jobs and for how many will be the measure of it, rather than the number of young people it enrols.
