ISLAMABAD – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday addressed the graduation ceremony of the 45th Specialized Diplomatic Course (SDC) at the Foreign Service Academy in Islamabad, where he also formally inaugurated Phase-I of the academy’s renovated premises.
Congratulating the graduating officers and their families, the Deputy Prime Minister underscored the Academy’s pivotal role in shaping generations of Pakistani diplomats. He highlighted that beyond training Pakistan's own Foreign Service cadres, the institution has imparted training to over 1,600 diplomats hailing from 122 countries, reinforcing Pakistan's commitment to international diplomatic collaboration.
In his keynote address, Senator Dar emphasized that effective diplomacy in the modern era demands a robust combination of knowledge, sound judgment, and unimpeachable character. He stressed the necessity for officers to advance Pakistan’s interests across a broad spectrum, including political engagement, economic growth, technological innovation, educational exchange, and people-to-people connectivity.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed profound gratitude to the Government of the People’s Republic of China for its generous support and funding for the renovation initiative. He described the contribution as a tangible reflection of the close, enduring, and all-weather friendship between Pakistan and China.
Concluding his address, Senator Dar called upon the graduating officers to serve their nation with unwavering professionalism, integrity, and compassion. He urged them to keep Pakistan’s national interests at the heart of their diplomatic endeavors and extended his best wishes for their future successes in representing the country on the global stage.
