GWADAR : In a significant development for Gwadar's fishing community, fishermen have officially been granted laborer status following persistent efforts by MPA Gwadar Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch.

Maulana Baloch has urged all fishermen across Gwadar district to register with the Balochistan Employees Social Security Institution (BESSI) to obtain labor cards. "Through this card, fishermen and their families can access health and social protection facilities," he said in a statement.

The MPA emphasized that registration will ensure legal and social security coverage for the fishing community, allowing them to benefit from welfare, health, and social protection schemes.

The move is seen as a crucial step toward safeguarding the rights and futures of Gwadar's fishermen and their families, who have long been part of the informal labor sector.
