NUSHKI/QUETTA — At least one person was killed and several others wounded or abducted as unidentified armed men carried out a series of attacks across multiple districts of Balochistan, targeting civilians, transport vehicles and a construction firm, according to police sources.
Man killed, another wounded in Nushki firing
In the Padag Kochki area of Nushki district, unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate fire on two men, killing one on the spot and critically wounding the other, police said.
Rescue teams reached the site soon after the incident and shifted the injured man to the Teaching Hospital in Nushki for initial treatment. He was later referred to Quetta for further care due to his critical condition.
Police cordoned off the scene and began collecting evidence, while a search operation was launched in surrounding areas to trace the attackers. The motive behind the firing could not immediately be established, and an investigation is underway.
The killing triggered panic across Nushki, where the main bazaar shut down and residents left their shops and businesses to return home. Fear and unease spread through several parts of the city as people kept a close watch on the situation. Local residents expressed alarm over the incident and demanded that those involved be arrested and brought to justice to restore law and order in the area.
Trailers and bowsers torched in Chagai
Separately, in the Padag area of Chagai, unidentified armed men opened fire on trailers and bowsers parked outside a hotel. The assailants set five trailers and two bowsers ablaze, while one driver was wounded in the firing and moved to a hospital, according to police sources.
Four abducted in Khuzdar
In Khuzdar, unidentified armed men abducted four people along with their vehicle, spreading fear in the surrounding area. Police launched a search operation following the incident.
Construction firm attacked in Kohlu
In the Tambo area of Kohlu, unidentified armed men attacked a construction company, bursting the tyres of its machinery and threatening workers to halt operations immediately.
Growing concern over security
The latest incidents add to mounting concern over the deteriorating security situation in Balochistan, where residents have repeatedly urged the authorities to arrest those responsible and restore peace in their areas.
