QUETTA: Dozens of employees and pensioners of the Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (MMC) staged a protest outside the Quetta Press Club on Wednesday, marking the tenth consecutive day of demonstrations over unpaid salaries and pensions.
Protesters held placards and chanted slogans against the MMC administration, holding the Pension Branch Superintendent directly responsible for the non-payment of dues to retired staff. The delay has left many pensioners facing severe financial hardship.
"We have not received our pensions for months. The Superintendent has failed to resolve this issue despite repeated warnings," said a senior protester.
Demonstrators made an urgent appeal to MMC Administrator Bashir Ahmed Barich, demanding the immediate removal of the Pension Branch Superintendent from his post. They warned that the protest would continue and escalate if their demand was not met.
Authorities have yet to issue an official response regarding the protest or the administrative action requested.
