Pakistan's largest-ever shipment of BYD electric vehicles has arrived at Karachi Port, as fuel price volatility stemming from the Middle East crisis boosts interest in electric mobility.
More than 2,000 BYD New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) were delivered from China aboard the M.V. Grande Shanghai, a Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) vessel — the first time this method of shipping has been used to bring electric vehicles into the country. Mega Motor Company (MMC), BYD's official partner in Pakistan, said the consignment marks one of the largest single deliveries of BYD vehicles to date.
The shipment falls in line with Pakistan's broader push toward electric vehicle adoption and is expected to help accelerate the build-out of the country's charging infrastructure as demand for NEVs continues to grow.
