Three Sindh Rangers personnel were killed after armed attackers stormed the Rangers' local headquarters in Karachi's Gulistan-e-Jauhar area on Saturday, prompting a large-scale security operation, officials said.

According to Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho, the attackers rammed a vehicle into the main entrance of the Rangers headquarters before launching the assault. Initial reports suggested an explosion at the scene, although authorities said they were still determining the exact sequence of events.

Security forces responded swiftly, engaging the attackers in a gun battle that resulted in the deaths of three gunmen, while three Rangers personnel also lost their lives during the operation, police said.

Following the attack, Special Security Unit (SSU) commandos, the Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF), Rangers personnel, and police cordoned off the area and launched a clearance operation to ensure no additional attackers remained in the vicinity.

Medical officials confirmed that at least one injured Rangers trooper was taken to hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg. Authorities have not released further details regarding the condition of the injured.

The attack prompted a heavy deployment of law enforcement personnel around Gulistan-e-Jauhar, while emergency response teams, including Rescue 1122 Sindh, were dispatched to the scene following reports of gunfire and an explosion near Mosamiat Chowrangi.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar sought detailed reports from senior police officials and directed authorities to investigate the incident and ensure the area was secured.

The motive behind the attack has not yet been officially confirmed, and no group has immediately claimed responsibility. Investigations are ongoing
