Members and supporters of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) alleged that police dispersed a press conference in Quetta on Sunday and detained several participants gathered to protest the life sentences recently handed down to the group's imprisoned leaders.

According to a statement issued by the BYC, the press conference was scheduled to take place at Quetta Press Club at 5 p.m., where relatives of detained leaders, including Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Sibghatullah Shah, along with representatives of various political parties, intended to condemn what they described as "unjust" convictions.

The group claimed that the administration refused permission for the press conference and closed the gates of the press club. Organizers then moved the event to the protest camp of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), where they continued the press conference.

During the event, participants alleged that police and personnel from intelligence agencies gathered at the venue, harassed attendees, and later dispersed the gathering. BYC further claimed that several participants were taken into custody.

Nadia Baloch, an advocate and sister of Dr. Mahrang Baloch, strongly criticized the police action, alleging that even local residents who provided drinking water to participants were detained. She accused the authorities of deliberately escalating tensions.

In its statement, the BYC also alleged that Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) leader Zubair Shah Agha was forcibly taken away by security personnel following the press conference. The group further claimed that two local shopkeepers who had provided water to participants on humanitarian grounds were also detained and taken to an undisclosed location.

The BYC condemned the actions as a violation of democratic freedoms and called for the immediate release of all detained individuals, an end to what it described as restrictions on political activities, and the protection of the rights of affected families to peacefully express their views.

There was no immediate official statement from the police or provincial authorities regarding the BYC's allegations at the time of publication.
