Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Quetta on Wednesday for a one-day visit to review the deteriorating security situation in Balochistan following a series of deadly militant attacks across the province over the past two days.

Upon his arrival at Quetta Airport, the prime minister was received by Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, and senior civilian and military officials.

During the visit, Prime Minister Sharif is scheduled to chair a high-level security meeting to assess the province's law and order situation and review the government's response to recent security challenges.

Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and the Prime Minister's Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah are accompanying the premier.

The visit comes in the wake of a wave of violence that has shaken Balochistan in recent days. At least twenty one police personnel, including senior officers, were killed in a coordinated militant assault on a police check post in Ziarat district, while another major suicide attack targeting the residence of pro-state tribal leader Mir Shafiq ur Rehman Mengal in Khuzdar's Wadh area was thwarted after security personnel repelled the attackers.

The recent incidents have raised fresh concerns over the security landscape in Balochistan, prompting Islamabad to convene top civilian and military leadership to review the evolving situation and formulate further measures to strengthen security across the province.

Further details from the high-level meeting are expected later today.
