Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti met the United Kingdom's High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott on Monday , where the two discussed matters of mutual interest, development cooperation and the strengthening of bilateral ties.

The meeting reviewed potential areas of cooperation across education, health, governance, institutional capacity-building and investment, according to a statement issued after the meeting.

Bugti briefed the High Commissioner on the provincial government's ongoing administrative reforms, public welfare initiatives and development priorities. He said the establishment of peace, sustainable development, effective governance and improved public service delivery remained among the government's foremost priorities.

He said the provincial government was pursuing comprehensive reforms aimed at improving transparency, strengthening governance and making the development process more effective. Bugti described Balochistan as a province rich in mineral resources, geographic significance and investment potential, adding that the government was working with international partners to create new opportunities for growth and prosperity in the province.

He said comprehensive measures were also under way to promote investment, create employment opportunities and expand access to basic services, and added that empowering the province's youth was among the government's priorities.

Bugti expressed hope that cooperation between the United Kingdom and Balochistan would deepen further across sectors, helping advance public welfare and sustainable development goals.

Marriott, for her part, praised the provincial government's ongoing development initiatives, reform programmes and efforts toward public service delivery, and expressed interest in expanding cooperation across various sectors.
