QUETTA, August 10, 2026In a significant development emanating from the Election Tribunal, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially de-notified Nawab Jangayz Khan Marri as a returned candidate from the Balochistan Provincial Assembly constituency, PB-9 Kohlu.
According to a formal notification issued by the ECP from Islamabad today, the decision follows an order passed by the Election Tribunal-III in Balochistan, Quetta, on July 29, 2026. The Tribunal was hearing Election Petition No. 52/2024, filed by Naseebullah Khan against Jangayz Khan Marri and others.
Citing the Tribunal’s verdict, the ECP has set aside its earlier notification from July 4, 2024, which had originally declared Marri as the winner of the constituency.
The notification, signed by Deputy Director (Coord) Muhammad Asad Ali, confirms that the results from PB-9 Kohlu have been nullified and that Nawab Jangayz Khan Marri stands de-notified with immediate effect.
The official directive has been forwarded for publication in the Extraordinary (Part-III) edition of the Gazette of Pakistan. Further details regarding the specific grounds of the Tribunal's decision are expected to be available in the full text of the order.
This marks a critical turn in the electoral landscape of the Kohlu district, raising questions about the subsequent by-election or legal recourse available to the affected parties.
