The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has claimed that its central leader, Dr. Mahrang Baloch, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for a second time in January 2026.

In a statement released on Saturday, the organization said it had not previously disclosed the nomination due to its internal policy but decided to make it public now.

The committee said the reported nomination reflects what it described as international recognition of Dr. Mahrang Baloch's advocacy for peace, justice, and human rights. It also criticized legal proceedings initiated against its leadership, alleging that the cases are politically motivated and aimed at suppressing peaceful activism.

The BYC further alleged that several of its leaders are facing fabricated criminal cases, unfounded allegations, and non-transparent judicial proceedings. The organization claimed these measures are intended to silence voices speaking out against alleged human rights violations, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and military operations in Balochistan.

According to the committee, the security situation and alleged human rights concerns in Balochistan have intensified following the arrests of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other BYC leaders.

The organization appealed to the international community, human rights organizations, and democratic institutions to closely monitor the situation in Balochistan and to advocate for the protection of what it described as the fundamental rights of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other members of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee.

The claims made in the statement have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate response from Pakistani authorities regarding the committee's allegations.
