Quetta: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck Kohlu district in Balochistan on Friday, marking the second seismic event to hit the area in a single day and causing panic among residents.
According to initial reports, the earthquake's epicentre was located approximately 17 kilometres northeast of Kohlu. The tremors were also felt in the neighbouring districts of Barkhan and Zhob, prompting people to rush out of their homes, offices, and other buildings as a precaution.
Despite widespread panic, no immediate casualties or significant structural damage were reported, according to preliminary information. Authorities are continuing to assess the situation, while residents remained outdoors for some time due to fears of aftershocks.
The back-to-back earthquakes have raised concerns among local communities, although officials have not issued reports of major damage or injuries.
Authorities have advised residents to remain alert and follow safety guidelines in the event of further seismic activity.
